Privacy policy - Gran Canaria Plan

Gran Canaria Plan is a registered trademark of Viajes Aire del Este SL with VAT ID B-88146956, registered in the Madrid Commercial Register and headquartered at C./ Fuerteventura, 4, BJ. 1, 28703, SS de los Reyes, Madrid.

At Gran Canaria Plan, we recognize that earning your trust and keeping it is one of our main goals as a company. Protecting your privacy is a responsibility we take very seriously.

We have drafted this Privacy Policy to help you understand how we collect, use, and seek to protect, at Gran Canaria Plan, the personal information (as defined below) that you provide to us through our websites, mobile applications, email, service providers, and distribution partners. This Privacy Policy does not address the privacy, information, or other practices of third parties, for which we are not responsible, including distribution partners, suppliers, and third-party tour operators, as well as any third parties that operate websites linked from our websites. By downloading, visiting, or using our websites or content, by using any Gran Canaria Plan application (the “Application”) on a mobile phone, tablet, or similar device (the “Device”), or by providing information to us in connection with our websites, mobile applications, or other sites or services, you accept the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

What information do we collect?

General information

We receive and store all information that you enter on our websites or otherwise provide to us. We collect two types of information about you through our websites, mobile applications, email, service providers, and distribution partners. Personal Information includes information that personally identifies you, such as your first and last name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, username and password, as well as billing information (for example, the credit card number, cardholder name, and expiration date). We also collect Other Information that does not personally identify you, such as your gender, country of residence, and other demographic data.

When you register with Gran Canaria Plan, we ask for basic information such as your name and email address and Other Information such as your registration location. You may choose not to provide this information, but in general you will need to give us some details about yourself to receive relevant offers from Gran Canaria Plan and our partners, as well as to enjoy other benefits of being a registered member. For example, to purchase products or services, you must disclose Personal Information, which includes your name, mailing and email address, telephone number, credit card details, and other personally identifying information. If you do not provide Personal Information when purchasing any products or services from our suppliers, we will be unable to confirm your purchase or provide your booking.

In some cases, we may also ask you for Other Information; for example, demographic data such as your country of residence, gender, age, travel habits, etc. In addition, we use cookies (as described below) to collect information about the performance and ease of use of our websites.

Information about other people

You may have the opportunity to provide contact or travel-related information about other people through our websites. If you use the “refer a friend” option or purchase products or services for someone else through Gran Canaria Plan, you will need to submit that person’s personal information. You must obtain consent from those other people before providing us with their personal information.

Information from other sources

We may also periodically obtain personal and non-personal information about you from affiliated entities, business partners, and other independent third-party sources, and add it to other information we have about you. For example, if you visit Gran Canaria Plan via a “click-through” from a site operated by one of our business partners and you are registered on that partner’s site, that partner may share with us the personal information you provided to them, such as contact information and demographic information. As another example: if you access third-party services, such as social media services, through our website or before visiting our website, we may collect certain information such as your username and other data that these services make available to us. We will work with our current and potential future partners to enhance and personalize your use of our website in accordance with the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Automatic information collection

When you visit grancanariaplan.com or any of our affiliate web pages hosted by us, our web server automatically recognizes and collects your IP address (assigned by your Internet Service Provider and not personally identifying you), your web browser software, and the referring website. To help us analyze the use of our websites and related services, and to send you more relevant communications, we also collect and track Other Information about your online activity, such as the content you view, the pages you visit, and the searches or bookings we facilitate or that you make. One of our goals in collecting this automatic information is to better understand our users’ interests and preferences so we can personalize the user experience. For example, if you frequently visit Gran Canaria, we may send special notifications with deals and popular products for those destinations. If you subscribe to any of our email marketing communications, including newsletters and destination alerts, you must disclose Personal Information such as your name and email address, as well as Other Information such as your country of residence.

Payment information

If you book a tour or excursion facilitated by Gran Canaria Plan with third-party providers, we will collect your payment information, including the credit card number, cardholder name, expiration date, authentication code, and billing address.

We may offer members the option to save information related to payment choice and method on our website. If you save such payment details with Gran Canaria Plan, you can add, delete, or modify this information at any time in Account Settings.

Location information and other device data

When you use an Application on a Device, we will collect and use information about you generally in the same way and for the same purposes as when you use the Gran Canaria Plan website. In addition, we may collect information about your location if you have authorized your Device to send such information to the Application via the Device’s privacy settings or if you have uploaded photos tagged with location information. We may use the location information collected through your Device or photos to enhance your use of the Application by offering relevant content and contextual advertising. For example, we may use your location to show you tours or excursions near your travel destination. You can change your Device’s privacy settings at any time to disable sharing location information with the Application and/or disable tagging your photos with location information. Please note that disabling location sharing may affect certain features of our Application. If you have any questions about your Device’s privacy settings, we suggest contacting the Device manufacturer or your mobile service provider for assistance.

Contributions submitted by you

You can contribute to Gran Canaria Plan websites in various ways; for example, by writing reviews, uploading photos, completing your public profile, or rating other users’ contributions. We may store these contributions (your “Content”), display them publicly on our websites and Applications and on those of our distributors and affiliate partners, show them to other users, share them with our distributors and affiliate partners, and use them for promotional purposes. Please note that if you include Personal Information in your Content, others may use and see it. We assume no responsibility for information you choose to include in your Content.

Cookies and how we use them

“Cookies” are information strings that the web browser stores on the computer’s hard drive for tracking purposes. Cookies only identify the computer, not you personally, either in or by means of cookies.

First-party cookies: At Gran Canaria Plan we use cookies to help us recognize that your browser has visited us before. They also allow us to save and remember preferences set while that browser was visiting our site. We also use them to log session information and collect information about how you visit and access our websites and Applications. In addition, we may store your password in a cookie if you tick the box to save it for automatic sign-in (“Save this password for automatic sign-in”). Please note that member IDs, passwords, and any other account-related data included in such cookies will be encrypted for security reasons. We also use cookies to facilitate personalization of the content, experience, and ads we offer on our websites and Applications, and to analyze and measure the effectiveness of our email communications, website features and offers, and advertisements.

Most browsers allow you to disable cookies; however, disabling them will limit your use of our websites and Applications. You can have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, delete individual cookies, or delete non-essential cookies.

Third-party cookies: Gran Canaria Plan and our affiliated websites are committed to providing you with relevant content and information through our sites. To do so, we may collect information about the searches and other activities you perform on the sites and engage third-party advertising companies to serve ads while you visit our websites. We also allow these companies to place and access their own cookies on the user’s computer when they deliver ads. These advertisers do not have access to the information we collect through Gran Canaria Plan cookies. The use of cookies by other companies is governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

Web beacons: Our sites also use web beacons (also known as clear GIFs, pixel tags, or web bugs), which are tiny graphics with a unique identifier placed in a web page’s code. Their function is similar to cookies. We use web beacons to monitor user traffic patterns from one page of our sites to another, to provide or communicate with cookies, to know whether a user arrived at our site from an online ad viewed on a third-party website, and to improve site performance. We may also allow our service providers to use web beacons to help us learn which emails recipients have opened and to track visitor traffic and actions on our site. This helps us evaluate the effectiveness of our content and other offerings.

Data collected by business partners and ad networks to show you relevant ads: Many of the ads displayed across the Gran Canaria Plan family of sites are served by Gran Canaria Plan or its service providers; however, we also allow third parties to collect information about your online activities via cookies and other technologies. These third parties include (1) business partners that collect information when you view or interact with one of their ads on our sites; and (2) ad networks that collect information about your interests when you view or interact with one of the ads they place on many different websites across the Internet. The information collected by these third parties is used to make predictions about your characteristics, interests, or preferences and to show you ads on our sites and across the Internet tailored to what appear to be your interests.

Please note that we do not have access to or control over the cookies or other technologies these third parties may use to collect information about your interests, and these third parties’ information practices are not covered by this Privacy Policy. Some of these companies are members of the Network Advertising Initiative, which offers a single location to opt out of targeted ads from member companies. For more information, click here.

Response to Do Not Track signals: Your web browser may transmit a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) signal to Gran Canaria Plan and other websites. Due to differences in default browser settings and how browsers incorporate DNT signals, site operators sometimes cannot tell whether site visitors selected the DNT setting themselves or are aware they can choose how to set it. Gran Canaria Plan does not currently respond to DNT signals. Once the Internet industry has established a standard for this issue and Gran Canaria Plan recognizes it, we may re-evaluate this approach.

Use of your personal information

We use your personal information to help you use and enjoy our services, which includes the following:

We will provide you with choices about the use and disclosure of your Personal Information for marketing purposes.

Sharing with social networking services

If you connect to Gran Canaria Plan via Facebook, we may show you reviews, photos, and tours that your Facebook friends have posted, shared, saved, or purchased on Gran Canaria Plan. Please note that if you have Facebook friends who use Gran Canaria Plan, they may also have shared information about you with us via Facebook. If you want to avoid such sharing, change your Facebook privacy settings.

Through Gran Canaria Plan, you can also access third-party social networking websites and services (such as Facebook and Twitter). When you do so, you will share information with those sites, and any information you share will be governed by their privacy policies. You may also be able to modify your privacy settings on those third-party social networking websites.

Sharing with service providers

Some of the Personal Information we collect is shared with our service providers (for example, tour operators) who are directly involved in fulfilling the purchases you make through us. We only provide our service providers with your name and local contact details if you have provided them (for example, hotel name for pickup/drop-off, your local phone number, your mobile number, your email address, etc.). We do not provide our service providers with any other Personal Information. If you choose to provide Personal Information directly to a service provider, we recommend that you read that provider’s privacy policy to determine how it will use or disclose your Personal Information.

Sharing with third-party vendors

We also share your Personal Information with third-party vendors who provide services or functions on our behalf, such as business analytics, payment processing, customer service, marketing, public relations, distribution of surveys or sweepstakes programs, and fraud prevention. In addition, we may authorize third-party vendors to collect information on our behalf, including, for example, the information necessary to use features on our websites or Applications or to facilitate the distribution of online advertising tailored to your interests. Third-party vendors may collect and access only the information needed to perform their functions, but they are not permitted to share or use it for any other purpose.

We currently subcontract various online third-party partners to help us manage and optimize our business and Internet communications. We use the services of third-party marketing companies to help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising and understand how visitors use our website. To do so, we use web beacons and cookies provided by these marketing companies in connection with our websites. The information we collect helps us learn things such as which pages are most attractive to our visitors, which products interest our customers the most, or what types of offers our customers like to view.

Sharing with referring websites

If you were referred to Gran Canaria Plan from another website, we may share with that referring website your registration information, such as your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and travel preferences. We have not set limitations on how referring websites use personal information, and we recommend that you review the privacy policies of any website that referred you to Gran Canaria Plan.

Sharing with companies in our corporate family

We may share your personal information with the Gran Canaria Plan group of companies and with our parent company, Viajes Aire del Este SL, as well as with our websites and our national and international corporate affiliates. This sharing allows us to provide you with information about products and services, travel-related and otherwise, that may interest you. To the extent our parent companies and corporate affiliates have access to your information, they will follow practices at least as restrictive as those described in this Privacy Policy. They will also comply with applicable laws governing the transmission of promotional communications and, at a minimum, offer you an option in each commercial email they send to choose whether you wish to stop receiving such emails in the future.

Other sharing

We may also use or disclose Personal Information when we deem it necessary or appropriate: (a) under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; (b) to comply with subpoenas, court orders, and other legitimate and enforceable legal processes; (c) to respond to requests from public or governmental authorities, including those outside your country of residence; (d) to enforce our terms and conditions and otherwise establish or exercise our legal rights; (e) to protect and defend our rights, property, or safety, as well as those of any of our affiliates, our customers, or other third parties; (f) to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, or those of you, our affiliates, or third parties; (g) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages we may sustain; (h) to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal or suspected illegal activities; (i) in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a divestiture, merger, consolidation, or asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy; or (j) as otherwise required by law.

We may use and disclose Other Information for any purpose. In some cases, we may combine Other Information with Personal Information (for example, combining your name with your geographic location). If we combine any Other Information with Personal Information, we will treat the combined information as Personal Information for as long as it remains combined.

We may also share anonymous or aggregated information with third parties, including advertisers or investors. For example, we may tell our advertisers the number of visitors our website receives or the most popular tours or excursions. This information contains no Personal Information and is used to develop content and services we hope will be of interest to you.
