From Gran Canaria Airport, you can reach Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán by bus, taxi or hire car. For most travellers, the bus is the cheapest option; a taxi is more convenient with luggage, children or a late arrival; and a hire car makes sense if you plan to start exploring the island straight away.

The airport sits on the east coast between the capital and the main tourist areas in the south. Interurban bus services are operated by Global, while Aena publishes official information about buses, taxis and airport access. Timetables, frequencies and fares can change, so check them before travelling.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has regular bus and taxi connections from the airport.

Global line 60 is the main reference route between the airport and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It serves San Telmo and Santa Catalina, two useful hubs depending on where you are staying. Global and Aena publish the current departures and timetable information.

As a rule of thumb, San Telmo is more convenient for Vegueta and Triana, while Santa Catalina works better for Las Canteras and the port area. Before boarding, check which stop leaves you with the shortest final transfer to your accommodation.

See the official Global timetables or Aena’s Gran Canaria Airport bus information.

Gran Canaria Airport to Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés

Maspalomas has direct public transport links from Gran Canaria Airport.

For Faro de Maspalomas, lines 66 and 90 are two of the main airport connections. Line 66 runs directly between the airport and Faro de Maspalomas, while line 90 links Telde and the south and serves the airport on selected journeys.

Journey time to Maspalomas depends on the service, stops and traffic; check your specific connection with Global. If you are staying in Playa del Inglés or Meloneras, check the nearest stop to your hotel rather than assuming Faro de Maspalomas is always the best place to get off.

Gran Canaria Airport to Puerto Rico

Line 91 links the airport with Puerto Rico and other parts of the southwest. It is a practical option if your accommodation is close to one of its stops and the timetable suits your arrival.

The journey is longer than to Maspalomas and can vary by service. If you arrive late, are travelling with small children or have a lot of luggage, compare the waiting time for the bus with the convenience of a taxi.

Gran Canaria Airport to Puerto de Mogán

Puerto de Mogán is connected with the airport by interurban services towards the southwest.

Line 91 also serves Puerto de Mogán. Check that your chosen departure continues to Puerto de Mogán; journey time depends on stops, traffic and the service.

If you are staying in the area, our Puerto de Mogán guide covers the beach, marina and market without overloading this airport transfer guide with local details.

Taxi from Gran Canaria Airport

A taxi is the most direct door-to-door option. Aena advises passengers to use only the signed taxi rank at the terminal and to request a receipt. Official fares include a starting charge, distance-based pricing and supplements that vary by time and circumstances.

It is better not to publish a fixed total fare here because the final price depends on the meter and official tariff updates. Check Aena’s official taxi information and current fares before travelling.

Should you hire a car at Gran Canaria Airport?

Yes, if you plan to explore the island from your first day and your accommodation has reasonable parking. If you are mainly staying in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or a well-connected resort, it may be easier to arrive by bus and hire a car only for mountain, village or road-trip days.

Our getting around Gran Canaria guide compares hire cars, buses, taxis and organised tours for different types of trip.

Which option is best for each destination?

Destination Bus Taxi Hire car
Las Palmas Very practical Useful with luggage Not essential in the city
Maspalomas / Playa del Inglés Good connection Very convenient Useful for road trips
Puerto Rico Budget-friendly More direct Useful for exploring the southwest
Puerto de Mogán Direct but longer Door to door Useful if continuing your trip by road

If your flight arrives late

Do not assume there will be an immediate bus late at night. Compare your actual arrival time with the latest Global departures. If they do not line up, a taxi or a pre-arranged transfer may be more reliable.

Also let your accommodation know if you expect to arrive outside normal reception hours, and check in advance where to collect a hire car if you have booked one.

Practical tips when leaving the airport

  • Identify the stop closest to your accommodation before you fly.
  • Do not confuse Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the province of Las Palmas when searching for routes.
  • Check Global timetables again on the day if you have a tight connection.
  • Use only the official taxi rank.
  • If travelling as a group, compare the total taxi fare with several bus tickets.
