At Gran Canaria Plan, we believe that discovering the island and caring for it should be part of the same experience. That is why we created Green Choice Partner<\/strong>, our own collaboration programme for activity, excursion and experience providers that share a responsible way of working and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.<\/p>\n

Our aim is simple: to build a network of providers with whom we can grow consistently, highlighting the quality of experiences, respect for the environment, links with the local economy and a transparent relationship with people visiting Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n

Sustainability as part of Gran Canaria Plan’s evolution<\/h2>\n

Gran Canaria Plan was created as a digital project designed to make it easier to discover and book experiences on the island. Its evolution also brings responsibility: technology and tourism visibility make more sense when they help build a better connected, more competitive destination that is increasingly aware of the impact generated by each activity.<\/p>\n

The GRAN CANARIA PLAN project, promoted by VIAJES AIRE DEL ESTE S.L.<\/strong>, is listed among the beneficiary projects of Spain’s Digitalizaci\u00f3n de \u00daltima Milla<\/strong> programme, under file DUM-030000-2023-576<\/strong>. This support for digital transformation forms part of the context in which we continue developing tools, processes and criteria designed to create more value for both travellers and partner companies.<\/p>\n

Green Choice Partner is part of that evolution. It is not about turning sustainability into a marketing claim, but about integrating it as a practical criterion in how we select, present and support our partners.<\/p>\n

What is Green Choice Partner?<\/h2>\n

Green Choice Partner is a Gran Canaria Plan collaboration programme.<\/strong> It is not an official certification issued by a public authority or an independent external label, but it is our own mark. And yours. It is a working framework that helps us identify and give visibility to providers that already apply responsible practices or are making demonstrable progress towards them. It also gives our customers a clear way to recognise those providers and choose them.<\/p>\n

We are not looking for a rigid checklist that applies identically to every company. A boat trip, a cultural visit, a nature excursion or a food experience have different impacts and different opportunities for improvement. What matters to us is a shared attitude: understanding impacts better, reducing them where feasible, caring for the destination and making decisions that improve the activity over time.<\/p>\n

We are not looking for perfect companies. We are looking for companies committed to improving.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responsible practices we value<\/h2>\n

Among the areas we consider are reducing waste and single-use plastics, responsible water and energy use, protecting natural areas, respecting wildlife and local rules, managing group sizes appropriately, and providing customers with clear guidance on responsible behaviour.<\/p>\n

We also value local hiring and partnerships, the use of local products where appropriate, protection of cultural heritage, responsible working conditions, accessibility, staff training and a willingness to review processes in order to reduce negative impacts.<\/p>\n

Not every measure applies in the same way to every provider. That is why we prefer to understand each activity on its own terms and recognise concrete progress rather than generic statements.<\/p>\n

Why we want to work with committed providers<\/h2>\n

Experiences play a central role in the relationship between visitors and Gran Canaria. The people who guide a route, organise a trip at sea, welcome a group to a farm or interpret a town’s heritage can directly influence how the island is understood and respected.<\/p>\n

Working with committed providers helps us offer a selection that is more consistent with the kind of tourism we want to support: high-quality experiences, managed responsibly and connected with the territory. It also allows us to explain more clearly to travellers which companies are making practical efforts and why those practices create value for the destination.<\/p>\n

Visibility, reputation and collaboration<\/h2>\n

Being part of the Green Choice Partner network can provide reputational differentiation within the Gran Canaria Plan ecosystem. Where relevant, we may highlight a provider’s commitment in content, experience pages, commercial communications or editorial initiatives related to responsible tourism.<\/p>\n

We will make that distinction visible in our content and through the logo we have created to identify committed businesses, giving proper visibility to the work and effort they put in every day.<\/p>\n

We do not treat visibility as an automatic reward or a guarantee of commercial results. We see it as a way to recognise positive practices and help travellers make better-informed choices. For providers, it also creates a channel for dialogue with Gran Canaria Plan to share improvements, initiatives and good practices that may be useful to the wider community.<\/p>\n

We want to understand how you work<\/h2>\n

If you run activities, excursions or experiences in Gran Canaria and are working to reduce impacts, support the local economy or improve the relationship between your activity and the environment, we would like to hear from you.<\/p>\n

You do not need to arrive with a finished model. We are interested in what you do today, what you have changed in recent years and what you would like to improve next. Green Choice Partner is intended to be a useful network based on collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n
