Gran Canaria in 7 days gives you enough time to see the island at a balanced pace if you group each day by area and avoid turning the trip into a checklist.<\/strong> A week lets you combine the south, southwest, mountains, capital, north and southeast while still keeping some flexibility for weather, rest or a plan you want to repeat.<\/p>\n

This itinerary is designed for a first visit. A hire car is very useful on several days, especially for the mountains, north and southeast, but you do not need one for the entire stay.<\/p>\n

Day 1 \u2014 Maspalomas, the dunes and Meloneras<\/h2>\n

Start in the south with an easy day and minimal driving.<\/strong> Explore Maspalomas, enter the Maspalomas Dunes<\/a> through permitted access points and finish around the lighthouse and Meloneras.<\/p>\n

You do not need to cross the whole reserve. A viewpoint, a permitted section of the trails, some beach time and a walk along the promenade already give you a strong first day.<\/p>\n

Tip:<\/strong> avoid the hottest hours for longer walks on sand and respect all marked routes, signs and protected areas.<\/p>\n

Day 2 \u2014 Puerto de Mog\u00e1n and the southwest<\/h2>\n

Use the second day for Puerto de Mog\u00e1n at a relaxed pace.<\/strong> Walk around the marina, spend some time on the beach and leave room for an unhurried lunch.<\/p>\n

Optional:<\/strong> add a boat or marine activity if you genuinely want to dedicate several hours to it. Otherwise, keeping the day focused on Mog\u00e1n gives you a better pace than trying to link multiple southwest beaches.<\/p>\n

Day 3 \u2014 Tejeda and Roque Nublo<\/h2>\n

Set aside a full day for the highlands.<\/strong> Tejeda and Roque Nublo<\/a> are enough to experience Gran Canaria\u2019s interior without spending more time driving than visiting.<\/p>\n

Access to the S-70 trail is regulated. A free reservation is required during the controlled period, and parking at La Goleta is prohibited, so check the current park-and-ride, transport and access arrangements before setting out. Mountain weather can be very different from the coast. If the day starts with dense fog, strong wind or an official warning, swap this day with Las Palmas or the southeast.<\/p>\n

Day 4 \u2014 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria<\/h2>\n

Spend a full day in the capital to balance the trip with history, food and an urban beach.<\/strong> Start in Vegueta and Triana, then head to Las Canteras later in the day.<\/p>\n

You do not need a car for most city sightseeing. Walking, urban buses and taxis are enough for the main areas, so you can keep the hire car for other days.<\/p>\n

If you like museums, choose one or two according to your interests rather than trying to see everything. The day works best when you leave time to walk, eat and enjoy Las Canteras.<\/p>\n

Day 5 \u2014 Agaete and the northwest<\/h2>\n

Use the fifth day for Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves.<\/strong> The aim is not to drive the entire northern coastline, but to experience an area with a very different atmosphere from the southern resorts.<\/p>\n

If you start from Las Palmas, the day is easier. From the south, allow more driving time and keep extra stops to a minimum.<\/p>\n

Alternative:<\/strong> if you already know Agaete or prefer another northern town, replace part of the day with one specific stop instead of adding a chain of villages.<\/p>\n

Day 6 \u2014 Ag\u00fcimes and Barranco de las Vacas<\/h2>\n

Use the sixth day for southeast Gran Canaria.<\/strong> Visit Ag\u00fcimes and combine it with Barranco de las Vacas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ravine is small, but access needs care: it is beside the GC-550, parking is very limited and you should not enter during heavy rain, flood warnings or unstable weather. The specialist guide keeps those details updated.<\/p>\n

Optional:<\/strong> add Guayadeque if your pace still feels comfortable. If not, Ag\u00fcimes and Barranco de las Vacas already make a complete day.<\/p>\n

Day 7 \u2014 Flexible day: beach, activity or something you missed<\/h2>\n

Keeping one flexible day makes a one-week itinerary much better.<\/strong> Use it to rest, repeat a beach, book an activity or recover a day that you moved because of bad weather.<\/p>\n

If you have not yet done anything on the water, this is a good time for a boat trip or marine activity. If you prefer land-based plans, return to the place you enjoyed most instead of adding unnecessary kilometres.<\/p>\n

You can also use the day for somewhere that did not fit earlier, but avoid turning it into a final rush through three or four leftover stops.<\/p>\n

Do you need a car for Gran Canaria in 7 days?<\/h2>\n

You do not need a car for all seven days, but it gives you much more freedom for the highlands, Agaete and southeast.<\/strong> In Las Palmas and much of the southern resort area, you can manage without your own vehicle.<\/p>\n

Where to stay for a week<\/h2>\n

For 7 days, splitting your stay between the south and Las Palmas can make sense, although it is not essential.<\/strong> Three or four nights in Maspalomas or the southwest and three or four nights in the capital can reduce several long drives.<\/p>\n

How to adapt the route to your base<\/h2>\n

If you stay in the south<\/strong>, group Maspalomas, Mog\u00e1n and the southeast first, then keep Las Palmas and Agaete as separate days. If you stay in Las Palmas<\/strong>, start with the capital and north and move the southern days later.<\/p>\n
